Who qualifies?
This is the best bit! - The criteria for qualification is so wide, approximately 8 out of 10 people will qualify for this scheme!

Below are a  few examples below of qualifying individuals:

For Own Property:

  1. Receiving Child benefit - Anyone with children under the age of 18 will get this. Yep, you read that right!
  2. Household income - below £31,000 per annum
  3. Receiving Pension credit - Anyone drawing a pension
  4. Older properties - Individuals with Older properties that have low EPC ratings will nearly always qualify!
  5. Receiving Income support
  6. Receiving Housing benefit
  7. Receiving Universal credit
  8. Receiving Income related employment & support allowance (ESA)


For Landlords/Property Investors:
Where this gets really interesting is with Landlords! Now a lot of landlords will not fall into any of the above HOWEVER the qualification to get these government grants, in the case of BTL properties is….based on the whether the tenant or the property itself fits any of the criteria above (!) not the landlord as an individual.

So if a landlord has multiple properties, the landlord can receive FREE upgrades on all those tenants/properties that qualify!

With more and more onerous Net Zero Laws due to hit the Statute Books over the coming years the pressure on Landlords is growing by the day. Without financial help many landlords could be forced out of the market but with these financial supports being available not only could you cope with them but you could even improve the rental value and sales price of your properties!
